                                           Sortie

A lone Sopwith Baby sorties from Portsmouth Harbor alongside her mother ship HMS Duke of Edinburgh during WWI. The Sopwith Baby holds the distinction of being the longest serving military aircraft from the Sopwith line, when they were finally retired from Norwegian service in December 1931.

                                            (Mouse Over Image)

Finish options are narrowed to two candidates at this early stage of the project. In keeping with maximum practical authenticity, a military theme is therefore assured to include replica armament. This mouse over image (with some embellishments on my part) represents Sopwith Factory built machine serial number 8165 delivered to Felixstowe on February 8, 1916, and Blackburn Factory built machine number 2071 delivered to Killingholme on November 2, 1917.  Many Thanks to Illustrator Robert Pearson for allowing me the use of this profile.
